Beeswax..The Primary Material

For centuries beeswax was only used for the making of church candles for the Mass, and votives objects encouraging clever carving and modeling of religious figures.
Throughout the 17th and 18th centuries museums sprang up displaying the waxwork of historic personages, and it was from these origins that the specialist art of the wax dolls as a child’s plaything eventually evolved.
